In 2015, SAPIENS lead researchers Associate professor Bogdana Neamtu and Jean Monnet Professor Dacian Dragos published their article “Sustainable Public Procurement: The Use of Eco Labels” in the European Procurement & Public Private Partnerships Law Review (EPPPL), volume 10, issue 2. The journal is “committed to observe and comment on relevant national, EU and international legal and policy developments informing and shaping Public Procurement and PPPs.”
Abstract article
This article introduces the concept of eco-labels (evolution, definitions, and classifications) and discusses its growing popularity in the context of major shifts in environmental policy. It then investigates the use of eco-label in the context of public procurement and explores the provisions from the new public procurement Directive applicable to eco-labels. The article ends with a discussion of the relevant case law of the CJEU.
