Enforcing Sustainability in Contract Performance
ESR 7
Contracting Authorities increasingly include sustainability requirements into their contracts (eg requiring that ILO conventions are complied with in the entire supply chain of a contract or that sustainable resources are used in manufacturing purchased goods).
This brings the need for effective contract management to ensure that clauses are complied with to effectively contribute to achieving the SDGs. This research will:
- Explore and map relevant international SPP obligations and widely diffused sustainability clauses
- Identify legal hurdles to monitoring and enforcing sustainability clauses in contract performance
- Investigate contract management practices for sustainable contract performance
ESR 7 will be supervised by professor Roberto Caranta and co-supervised by professor Olga Martin-Ortega.
