Sebastien Lizin

Sebastien Lizin is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business Economics and vice-chair of the department of economics at the Hasselt University (Belgium). His main research interests lie in non-market valuation, technology assessment, and pro-environmental behaviour.

After successfully defending his doctoral dissertation in 2014 on the strategic technology assessment of organic photovoltaics Sebastien briefly worked for the sustainable materials management (SuMMa) policy center and performed research geared towards explaining households’ battery pack recycling intentions. At that time, he obtained a prestigious Flemish research foundation-funded postdoctoral mandate in the economics discipline for research on non-market valuation.

Sebastien has co-authored 21 internationally peer-reviewed journal articles in the fields of Energy, Environment, and Economics. 

SAPIENS PROJECT ROLE

Sebastien is supervising ESR 6 and co-supervising ESR 12.

To further increase his contribution to awareness-raising on the need for a transition to a more sustainable society, Sebastien serves as a scientific advisor of the federal council on sustainable development (FRDO-CFDD). As of late, he is chairing the working group on innovative economic models, which aims to foster knowledge on the challenges and opportunities of innovative economic models and to provide advice to the federal government.
