Gender Smart Procurement Systems
ESR 10
This project aims to offer a fresh, interdisciplinary overview of the depth of gender inequality in the public procurement sector. It seeks to understand the competencies and skills lacking in under-represented genders, the advantages of including minority genders, and their struggles to participate in fair and competitive procurement. Through case studies, in-depth interviews, and surveys, the project identifies areas where women may play a larger role as suppliers, both as employers and employees of gender-responsive businesses, in pursuit of SDG 5. It also analyzes the efficiency and effectiveness of measures favoring women-owned businesses, examining their implementation at a broader public sector level, encompassing both the governmental sector and inter-governmental organizations.
ESR 10 is supervised by associate professor Gyöngyi Vörösmarty and co-supervised by associate professor Bogdana Neamtu.

Dibya considers gender inequality as a critical social problem that has adverse socio-economic impacts. Her research with SAPIENS is motivated by her desire to understand the causes of gender inequality and find possible solutions to eradicate it. Her business administration and international management backgrounds complement her work towards sustainable supply chains and procurement.
