Measuring the Economic Impact of Sustainable Award Criteria in Public Procurement

ESR 9

Modern economies increasingly implement public procurement policies to drive positive change. These policies target social goals, such as supporting minorities and disadvantaged groups, as well as environmental objectives, like reducing emissions.

Sustainable Award Criteria (SAC) is a widely employed tool to achieve these goals, recognizing practices that align with resource efficiency, social responsibility, and long-term impact during the contract award stage.

Key questions guide this project:

  • Is SAC effective?
  • What downsides might be associated with it, and how could we overcome them?

This research aims to provide empirical evidence on the economic and social impacts of SAC and other sustainable procurement methods.

ESR 9 is supervised by professor Davide Vannoni and co-supervised by associate professor Marta Andhov.
