Our Impact

SAPIENS’s direct impact will be to create a unique European and international knowledge base and research capacity on SPP. The impact areas are broken down into four key sections.

Advancing the state of the art in research on SPP

Creating connecting bridges between industry, academic, NGOs, and other stakeholders working on SPP

Setting the ground for future collaborative patterns in the very interdisciplinary field of SPP.

the 2017 Global Review of SPP Recognises…

In order to transform production and consumption patterns, it will be necessary to foster collaboration among stakeholders throughout the entire value chain.

Impact Area 1

On the ESRs, their skills, and future career prospects

Impact Area 2

On the development of a strongly linked interdisciplinary academic community with specialised knowledge of SPP

Impact Area 3

On the European research and policy agendas on SPP and the implementation of SDGs and their targets

Impact Area 4

On awareness of both stakeholders, including CAs, and the public of the potential of SPP to contribute in addressing the most pressing issues our society is facing and in achieving the SDGs

The collaborations fostered by SAPIENS between academia and the most relevant actors in SPP policy, regulation and practice will have significant impact on training practices well beyond the lifetime of the network. The methods and skills taught, and the approaches exploited in SAPIENS have broad applications to other areas of sustainability studies.

Enhancing the career perspectives and employability of researchers

After finishing their training, the ESRs will be much sought well beyond academia, including with international organanisations, EU and national institutions, expert centres, NGOs, lobbyist and contracting agencies. ESRs will be provided with knowledge and skills making them eminently employable both in policy making, training and in actual procurement positions at both European, international and national level, allowing the EU to be a model and take the lead in SPP in the world at large.

Meaningful contribution of the non-academic sector to the research training

The non-academic sector will decisively contribute to SAPIENS through:

  • giving advice on research projects, research progress and training initiatives through its representatives in the Supervisory Board
  • providing speakers to the advanced training courses, the Summer School and the Network Conference
  • hosting ESRs for secondment periods. The collaborations fostered by SAPIENS between academia and the most relevant actors in SPP policy, regulation and practice will have significant impact on training practices well beyond the lifetime of the network

Quality of the proposed measures to exploit and disseminate the results

All Beneficiaries and Partner Organisations commit themselves to the exploitation and dissemination activities that will last throughout the whole project duration and after its end, with the aim of increasing the impact of the research outcomes.
