Henok Asmelash

Henok Asmelash is a Lecturer at Birmingham Law School. Prior to joining the University of Birmingham, he was a Postdoctoral Global Fellow at New York University School of Law and a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law. He holds a PhD in International Law and Economics from Bocconi University (Milan).

His main research and teaching interest lie within the broad field of international economic law. His publications address legal and policy issues at the intersection of trade, energy, and environment such as the regulation of energy subsidies in the multilateral trading system and other intergovernmental forums. Henok has consulted for the World Institute for Development Economic Research (UNU-WIDER) and the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) on intergovernmental initiatives to reform energy subsidies.
