Eva Andersson Strand

Eva Andersson Strand is the current director of the Centre for Textile Research (CTR) and associate professor in archaeology, Saxo Institute University of Copenhagen. The basis of her research lies in 30 years of experience in recording, developing and combining ancient textile crafts, textile analysis, analysis of textile tools and production processes. The research has been combined further with experimental and digital archaeology and comprehensive context analysis. The focus is to integrate the results into a wider economic and culture discussion of ancient societies, which has introduced the importance of textile research to archaeology in general.

Eva has worked with a number of time periods, such as Viking Age Scandinavia, Bronze Age Aegean, and Ancient Near East and, furthermore,  she has researched traditional textile crafts in Jordan, Turkey, and many other countries.
